The centre of the Milky Way smells like rum and tastes like raspberries.
In 2009, astronomers used the IRAM radio telescope in Spain to study the Sagittarius B2 dust cloud at the centre of the Milky Way galaxy. They discovered that the cloud contained ethyl formate, an organic molecule that smells like rum and gives raspberries their flavour.
